Rules & Regulations
All members fishing club waters or taking part in any club-organised activity must carry a valid membership permit. This must be fully completed, signed, dated, and include a photograph. A current Environment Agency permit must also be held.
These must be produced upon request to any club official, bailiff, EA officer, or another member (upon showing their permit). All Environment Agency regulations and bylaws must be followed at all times.
Non-members are strictly prohibited from fishing club waters. Any member found breaking this rule will have their membership suspended immediately.
No angler shall dispose of any litter, line, tackle including surplus bait on the club water, car park or adjoining land.
All members, including juniors, are responsible for ensuring they are familiar with and adhere to all club rules.
No person shall cause or allow damage to property, trees, shrubs, banks, or fencing without permission from the committee.
No litter, fishing line, tackle, or surplus bait is to be left on the club waters, car park, or surrounding land.
Drugs and alcohol are strictly banned on club waters.
Rods must not be left unattended, with or without bite alarms (remaining at the top of your swim is acceptable). This is both a club rule and Environment Agency law.
A maximum of two rods per angler is permitted.
No standing up while holding fish.
Adult members may bring their spouse or partner and children under 16 at no extra cost. They must remain on the same peg, with a total maximum of two rods between them.
Junior members must be accompanied by an adult member aged 18 or over.
Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead and all waste must be cleaned up.
No matches are allowed.
Casting within 2 metres of aerators is prohibited. Guide ropes run along the centre of the lake.
Barbless hooks only.
Fish must not be taken to the top of the bank for weighing or photographs.
Fishing is only permitted from designated pegs.
Minimum 30" Landing Net unless targeting carp then a 42" is required.
Work Parties
All senior members must complete two work parties per year unless they have purchased an over-stamp at a cost of £20. Without this, fishing will not be permitted.
Work parties take place monthly between March and October. Dates will be posted on the notice board, website, and via email at the start of each month.
Fish Retention Rules
The retaining of fish in any net, container, retention system, or sack is prohibited unless authorised by the committee.
Keepnets may only be used during official club matches and must be a minimum of 8ft in length, with silver fish and carp kept in separate nets.
Pike Fishing Rules
Barbless trebles only.
Wire trace required.
Braided mainline or 20lb mono.
Suitable unhooking tools must be carried.
No live baits.
Dead baiting is only permitted from October to February.
Unhooking mat required.
Carp Fishing Rules
Maximum hook size: 6.
Barbless hooks only (no crushed barbs).
Leadcore (maximum 1 metre), safe-zone leaders, and rig tubing are allowed.
Boilies are only permitted on the hook, PVA bag, or stringer. No loose feeding.
No fixed rigs. Leads must discharge if snagged or cut off, and running lead setups are preferred.
No dumping of lead weights.
No excessive use of high oil or high protein pellets.
No nut baits. All particles must be properly prepared and cooked.
No spombing or spodding.
No pre-baiting.
A minimum 42-inch landing net must be used.
Sided Unhooking Mats/ Cribs or Craddles must be used at all times.
A carp care kit is required.
No bait boats.
Night Fishing
Night fishing is permitted but must be booked in advance via the website or by contacting a member of the bailiff team.
A maximum of four anglers are permitted, and noise and disturbance must be kept to a minimum.
General Conduct
All anglers must ensure that toilet requirements are handled responsibly, without causing offence or hygiene issues. A toilet is available at the entrance to the allotments.

These rules are in place to protect the water quality of the Denton Arm, ensuring the health and wellbeing of both the fish and the fishery.
The Bulls Head Angling Club is a mixed fishery designed to accommodate all styles of angling.
